As LED lumen packages improve, the power required to drive the arrays and solutions has become increasingly important. Conventional drivers that need to step power down from 220V to regulate output to the LEDs take up space, add cost and most importantly, are the most prominent cause of premature failure mostly as a result of heat. Remove this feature and significant improvements to LED design can be achieved.
Successful designs of downlights and bigger lamp systems have already been introduced into the market but development of linear Driverless LED tubes has been difficult, mostly because of space constraints.
OrbitX Direct Drive uses cleverly designed topology to ensure that the potential lifespan of LED driverless systems can be achieved. The biggest challenge that Driverless systems have is the reduction of flicker. OrbitX achieves near flicker-free performance and excellent heat management through it's unique design topology.
Packaging this, along with other important features like fire retardents, class-leading 1500V surge protection and no wifi interference (often assosciated with traditional drivers), make the lamp almost unmatched in linear lighting products.
WHAT SEPERATES US FROM THE OTHERS?
Three main features distinguish OrbitX Direct Drive LED tube lamps, courtesy of the AC driver and our unique topology:
• 5 year warranty with a 7 year lifespan (up to 30 years when used in office hours).
• 40-50% electricity savings due to low power consumption and, most importantly, a power factor of 0.98 (a poor power factor will negate savings from lower power consumption).
• No wifi or radio interference, which is a common, but relatively unknown weak point of traditional LED drivers.
The long lifetime reduces maintenance costs and light output is typically 30% better than standard fluorescents. The better light quality (colour rendering index) has a positive effect on productivity and the overall perceived pleasantness of the illuminated space. From a safety perspective, the lamps do not cause flaming droplets during fire (contrary to standard LED tube lights), has no metal components other than the two contact pins (thus eliminating risk of electric shock) and, because it is made from polycarbonate, it is mechanicalLY shock resistant.
Typical breakeven on the capital outlay compared to fluorescent lights is 15 months for 24h operation (slightly longer when only used during office hours).
